Health insurance
Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Monthly premiums: Employee only $33.56, Employee + Child(ren) $223.78, Employee + Spouse $316.82, Family $457.36. A $100/month surcharge applies to Employee + Spouse and Family tiers if the spouse has access to employer-sponsored coverage elsewhere.
Dental and vision
Delta Dental provides both dental and vision coverage. Dental premiums range from $1.50/month (employee only) to $91.06/month (family). Vision coverage ranges from $6.64/month (employee only) to $20.60/month (family).
Life insurance
The city provides a $40,000 life insurance policy to all full-time employees at no cost.
Retirement and pension
Full-time employees participate in the LAGERS (Local Government Employees Retirement System) defined benefit pension plan, with the city contributing at the annual LAGERS rate. Optional deferred compensation plans are available through Voya and MissionSquare. Roth IRA options are also available through MissionSquare.
Vacation
Vacation accrual is based on tenure: 6.6 hours per month from 6 months to 5 years of service, 10 hours per month from 5 to 10 years, and 13.2 hours per month after 10 years.
Sick leave
Employees accrue 8 hours of sick leave per month, with accumulation capped at 1,200 hours.
Holidays and personal days
The city provides 10 paid holidays annually. Personal days range from 2 to 7 days based on tenure (1 to 20+ years of service).
Additional benefits
Education reimbursement up to $5,000 per year after two years of service. Free access to all city recreation facilities including The Pointe, North Pointe, and the Golf Course. Optional AFLAC supplemental disability coverage is available. Uniforms and uniform allowances are provided for select positions.
