About and staff
The Public Works Department is headquartered at Vlasis Park. Director Jim Link and Superintendent Rob Farek lead the operations team responsible for street maintenance, snow removal, leaf collection, tree management, and infrastructure projects.
Street maintenance and projects
Public Works maintains 123 miles of city streets. Report potholes and road damage by calling (636) 227-9000, option 2, or submitting an online service request.
Resident services
Free fall leaf collection runs annually. Crews cycle through the city approximately every three weeks. Rake leaves to the curb edge (not into the street) with no branches, rocks, or debris mixed in.
Tree programs
Public Works manages all trees growing in or upon city-managed streets and public rights-of-way. The department provides street tree removal and trimming services and operates a tree planting program. Crews do not handle trees located on private property.
Snow and ice removal
Snow plowing operations commence when accumulation reaches approximately two inches. During winter storms, crews operate around the clock until the storm ends and all streets are cleared.
Mosquito control program
The City of Ballwin contracts with St. Louis County Vector Control Services for mosquito larvae control. The program uses surveillance through trap sites distributed across the county where mosquitoes are collected, counted, and identified by species to guide targeted reduction efforts.
Public works projects
The City of Ballwin has budgeted infrastructure improvements for 2026 following Board of Aldermen approval. Project timelines are subject to change based on weather conditions, equipment availability, and manpower.
